Happy New Year 2026 BK Nation!
Just a year ago, we were closing out 2024 and ushering in 2025. Now, we are in 2026 and I can already feel the excitement and anticipation of what this year will bring. While I don’t believe in making New Year’s resolutions, I do believe in setting goals and doing new things that motivate me to get out of my comfort zone. That said, I’d like to share some of my lofty goals with you and keep you posted on the status throughout the year.
-Expand BK nation to 5,000 members.
-Provide quality, robust educational information to increase your knowledge of historical figures and events.
-Attend historical sites such as the National African American History Museum; Castillo de San Marcos in St. Augustine and perhaps visit Savannah GA, Charleston SC, and of course, Fort Pillow TN.
-Continue to promote my book, “A Time for Courage”.
-Publish the first of several historical word search books entitled, “Lemme Hear Your Warcry!” series. The first word search book will be on the American Revolution with future word search books to include American Civil War, WW I and WW II. More to come on this project.
-Continue to introduce BK Nation to diverse independent authors and entrepreneurs who have a passion for their craft.
2026 Calendar of Events
I wanted to start the year off right by giving you a 2026 calendar you can use to enhance your knowledge of historical events. As you may have heard, this is a nation of laws, but I believe it’s also a nation with a rich and proud history made up of remarkable and resilient people called Americans. Let us never forget our history.
Happy Birthday MLK
On January 19, 2026, this country will be celebrating and honoring a great American, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. I am reminded of the scripture found in 1 Peter 2:17 where it urges us to “honor all men.” Dr. King devoted his life to the nonviolent struggle for civil rights in this country. His leadership played a pivotal role in the passing of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, considered a crowning achievement of the civil rights era. Although he was assassinated on April 4, 1968, his legacy continues to inspire Americans today.
The theme for the 2026 Martin Luther King Jr. Day observance is “Mission Possible II:Building Community, Uniting a Nation the Nonviolent Way”. This theme emphasizes the importance of unity, courage, and collective will in building a more just and inclusive community.
BK Nation, I hope you will join me in celebrating this great American through attending community functions, church services, parades, book readings, and other events that honor Dr. King’s legacy.
Time for Courage
A Time for Courage is nearing two years old and still continues to hold its own on Amazon among some of the traditionally published books and highly acclaimed authors in my category, Black & African American Historical Fiction. If you want a quick view of the book trailer, I invite you to click on YouTube. You can also purchase the book by clicking Amazon.
Parting Thoughts
Some of you have reached out to me about becoming an author. We’re all unique and have a story to tell….so I say go for it! As with any profession, its hard work and requires a huge investment of your time, but the reward is well worth it. No, not the money, or the prestige but the fact that you are bringing joy to that reader as they immerse themselves in your written word. Now that’s priceless! If there are no authors, how can there be readers? So this is my charge to you in 2026--write a book or purchase a book and give it to someone as a gift. You may never know the impact you will make by doing this simple deed. As I close, I want to wish you the peace of God, good health and much prosperity in 2026.
